Thrifty Thursday

With 9 to provide for and one income, we do our best to make a little go a long way. Due to incredibly generous friends, our kids have never lacked for hand-me-down clothes. They love them. But in the last few months, maybe even a year, Melanie and Angela have been expressing a desire to add more things that are “their style” to the basics they already have. Eek! … [Read more...]

This Old Dog Learned a New Trick

** This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase through these links, at no additional cost to you, I receive a small commission Though I have been crocheting since I was 10, my crochet world was very limited. I only knew the most basic of stitches and didn’t learn how to read a pattern until 6 or so years ago. I’ve made a blanket for each of my children when they were babies, but poor Dory was blanket-less until about a month ago. … [Read more...]

No Deadline = No Work

No deadline, no work. As most of you know, I am a part-time college student in addition to the many other hats that I wear. Last semester I took a communications class that was clearly trying to make me lose my mind. Pretty easy as most of our school days follow the same pattern. But this year we have changed things up a bit. … [Read more...]

That time I caved and let the kids play Pokemon Go…

**Confession: A couple of weeks ago, when the whole world started going crazy for Pokemon Go, I made a promise to myself that my kids wouldn’t be one of those zombies walking around with a smart phone at the ready to catch fake cartoon monsters because they have nothing better to do. I mean, seriously? … [Read more...]

Letting myself go…

Confession: When it comes to my appearance, I haven’t really tried to look nice in years. But that it changing. This week I actually sat down and thought about when things ended. When did I stop buying cute clothes? When did I stop putting on make-up every day? When did I stop putting it on ever? When did I become a jeans and my-husband’s-t-shirt girl? … [Read more...]

Dory turns 1, and I turn to God.

I have written and re-written this post. While faith isn’t the focus of my blog, it is the heart of everything I do. I wanted to write a post about Dory’s first birthday. This child is a miracle in so many ways, and she is adored by us all ( except maybe Lloyd. His feeling for her run from barely tolerant to utterly smitten, and usually within just a few minutes). … [Read more...]
