No Deadline = No Work

No deadline, no work. As most of you know, I am a part-time college student in addition to the many other hats that I wear. Last semester I took a communications class that was clearly trying to make me lose my mind. I spent twice the amount of time on the class as should have been necessary, and still only eeked out a B (this is completely injurious to my nerd-nature). … [Read more...]

My Judgmental Morning

I like to think that I am not a judgmental person – we all like to think that, don’t we? But I seriously, truly thought, “I don’t judge others.” Do I judge myself? Heck yeah. I have so many judgmental thoughts about myself that I have named some of them and I trot them out and feed them. But that is a post for another day. Today, I have to Confess that I caught myself judging another person over something completely stupid, and was surprised at myself. … [Read more...]

Dude, You’re Four

Grocery shopping can be a polarizing topic; people seem to either love it or hate it. I, personally, enjoy grocery shopping… when I am by myself and have no budget to stick to. To keep our grocery bills down, I need to make a grocery list before shopping, and stick to the list. Confession: The List is a sacrosanct thing in our house. Everyone knows when shopping that if you want something that isn’t on the list, the answer is going to be no. Actually, the answer is, “Remind me when we get home and I will put it on the list for next week.” … [Read more...]

7 Reasons Why Being Child #7 Rocks

Confession: Though I don’t play favorites with my children, there is no doubt that a certain someone is getting off a lot easier than her other siblings. Dory has the joy of being Lucky Number Seven. And she really is lucky. The other morning, as I asked her older sisters to watch her while I took a shower, it occurred to me that: … [Read more...]

I Was Only Going to Breastfeed for a Few Months

Something I haven’t discussed yet on my blog, but that is near and dear to my heart is breastfeeding. Confession: I didn’t start out with great plans to breastfeed my children. I am not militant about breastfeeding the way some women are. I had planned to nurse Melanie for the 3 months I had off before returning to work, then she would get formula. I was raised on formula and turned out, well, perhaps a little left of center, but I hardly think the formula is to blame. But I digress. … [Read more...]

Dinner and a Spectacle

Last Thursday night we went out to eat. We usually eat out once per week or so. Confession: I usually dread when we eat out. Unless we are at Chic-Fil-A or CiCi’s – places where you don’t have to be particularly quiet (or, dare I say it, well behaved) my kids are bound to make a spectacle of themselves. I would rather stay home. … [Read more...]

22 Things in My Purse

As I was scrolling through my Facebook notifications yesterday, I came across a post from a few years ago where I had cleaned out my purse and itemized the contents. It was both impressive, gross, and inspiring. The grossest thing I had in my purse was a dirty diaper. I remember vowing to never let my purse get so cluttered again. Confession: I make vows like that a lot. I wouldn’t call them resolutions because I don’t do resolutions. They seem doomed for failure thanks to all our New Year’s best intentions that hang on until February to die. So instead I vow. That’s like, totally different. How did this vow hold up? Let’s take a look: … [Read more...]
